Kolkata Club after being put to bat first on CCI’s homeground had a tough time to get going as they could’nt muster a massive total on board scoring 137/9 in 20 overs. Most of the batters found it difficult to score freely vs CCI bowlers but their no.3 bat Subhankar Das showed great confidence as he scored an aggressive 71 off 41 balls which included 5 boundaries and 5 sixes. Subhankar was also well supported by Soumik who scored 28* off 25 balls. From the bowlers, it was CCI’s experienced player Zubair Botawala returning with a stunning spell wherein he plucked 6 wickets in his 24 ball spell! Zubair took 6/13 in 4 overs including a maiden as he kept on providing breakthroughs not allowing Kolkata Club to open up and make a big total.
Cricket Club of India in reply chase down the score with ease taking mere 14.1 overs to cross the victory line. It looked like a mere formality as opener Harmeet Sahney (40 off 33 balls) and Himanshu Waigankar (40* off 28 balls) did the job for their team. Himanshu also had a finishing partner in Jaideep Sachdeh who remained unbeaten with him on 20* off just 10 balls.
It was a good day of cricket for CCI and moresoever it was also a great day for them as they did the soft launch of CCI Cricket App post match. The CCI Cricket App is now available on Playstore with the same name and its available for both android and apple users.
Result: CCI won by 8 wkts and Zubair Botawala was the “Player of the Match”
