One of the most awaited matches of Garware Club House – The Prestigious Finals of the GSL 2.0 was finally concluded on 7th of January, 2024 and the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Event was a complete blockbuster with lots of supporters in attendance as well as many dignitaries attending the Grand Finale. The event was also graced by Former Indian Captain and Test Legend Mr. Dilip Vengsarkar adding further grace to the tournament!
Sapient Leopards opting to bat first on a wicket which was showing decent assistance for batters made the most of it by putting on a healthy total of 189/7 in 20 overs. Openers Vinit and Shahen gave a flying start of 73 runs in the powerplay which set the tone for their innings. Priyesh Mehta who came at no.4 further accelerated as he scored a well crafted 50 off 35 balls which included 4 fours and 2 sixes. From the bowlers, Niraj Randery and Mitul Shah bagged 2kts each.
Balasinor Tigers in reply lost early wickets which shifted the momentum quickly in Sapient’s favor. Even though their middle order did manage to gave a fight but ultimately they could only manage 164/5 in 20 overs with Nihar Shah being the top scorer smashing 47* off 35 balls. Sapient Leopards bowlers did an excellent job with almost every bowler chipping in making it a collective team performance.
Sapient Leopards won the match by 25 runs and become Champions of GCH Cricket Super League Season 2.
