NSCI Badminton organized its 5th edition of the NBL on the 13th, 14th and 15th of August 2022. The tournament was completely overhauled with each tie becoming a best of 7 matches, 15 ties, 6 teams, 114 matches and 120 players! Also matches were played for the 1st time on the 3AC Courts with 3 ties occurring simultaneously.
Changes did not stop there! Each team had for the 1st time, a team logo and theme song and redesigned team jerseys with some teams opting for team flags as well! The actual tournament was designed as multiple events leading to a grand finale. A professional agency- Ideas Triangle was hired for to manage the creatives and execute the events.
It was the largest tournament at the club and organized at its state-of-the-art air-conditioned badminton courts. 114 matches, professional referees, delectable snacks, matches from 9am-9pm, Babolat sales display, physiotherapists, -you name it, it was there during this 3-day carnival. Some tremendous upsets, new champions, young turks, heartbreaking moments, victorious scenes- all captured as the NBL redefined the professionalism of playing and event creation.
The finale was played between the King Shuttlers and Super Smashers with the King Shuttlers winning the 7th match to win the final 4-3. In something new, the winning team’s name was immediately engraved on the new Silver-Plated Trophy during the Prize Distribution. Gold medals to the Winners and Silver Medals to the Runners-up along with the Cheque Prizes to both the teams.
Full size Babolat kitbags were provided for all the participants. The tournament committee who executed this event included the likes of Romit Nagpal-Convener, Yash Golecha -Joint Convener, Mayur Saraf- Joint Convener and Ronny Marfatia. All in all, it was a beautifully executed sporting event conducted on a grand scale with meticulous professionalism in planning and execution.
