Parag Kothari from GCH Cricket League

Vivek Zaveri’s Blazing 70 goes in vain as Parag’s unbeaten 55 helps Warriors win in GCH Cricket League’23

GCH Warriors after opting to bat first at the picturesque Parsee Gymkhana Ground took no time to change gears putting up a handsome total of 199/7 in 20 overs. Openers Satyam Israni and Dhairya Shah provided a good opening start to the innings putting up 58 runs in the first powerplay within 6 overs. The stage was set with a positive momentum as Parag Kothari coming at no.3 further anchored his team with a brilliant knock of 55* off 37 balls (3 fours, 1 six).

Even though, there was a slight middle order collapse but Warriors got back into the game in no time courtesy a great finishing cameo by Rishin Mehta at no.7 who scored 44* in just 23 balls smashing 4 fours and 2 sixes. Parag displayed good resilience at a time when wickets were tumbling while his safe batting allowed Rishin to play freely in the death overs as Warriors reached a more than decent total of 199 runs to defend.

On the other hand, GCH Dragons were cleaned up for 157 runs despite a stunning effort by their opener Vivek Zaveri. Opening the innings, Vivek went all guns blazing scoring a quickfire 70 off mere 41 balls smashing 6 fours and 4 sixes at an impressive strike rate of 170.73. The only thing which lacked was the support from the other end or else GCH Dragons could have given a tough fight to the Warriors. The Warriors bowlers did an excellent job with experienced seniors of the team Neeraj Dalal and Bakul Mistry being the pick of the lot with the ball. Bakul returned with bowling figures of 3/24 in 4 overs while Neeraj was equally impressive taking 2/20 in 4 overs.
