Two of the most experienced campaigners Vijay Singh and Ojas Mehta who are known to be complete cricket fanatics and formidable performers continue to stamp their authority with impactful performances for MCA BKC knocking out the powerful CCI from the tournament for the first time since MCCC started as they have won it every time they have participated. Hence defeating a team like CCI is indeed quite memorable adding one more feather to their caps. MCA BKC also becomes the first team to beat CCI Open Age team on their homeground as CCI has lost for the first time in MCC when both Tejas and Rohan have played since inception of MCCC.
MCA BKC opting to bat first at Brabourne Stadium made a above average total of 180/3 in 20 overs which is anyday a good total to defend. Openers Ojas Mehta and Vijay Singh stitched a brilliant 138 run opening stand in just 15.4 overs which essentially took the game away from the opposition. While Ojas was at his usual best scoring 74 off 54 balls smashing 11 fours and a six, it was Vijay Singh who top scored with a blazing 86 off 56 balls. Vijay looked in his elements dominating the bowlers in every corner of the ground smashing 10 fours and 4 sixes at a healthy strike rate of almost 154.00!
CCI on the other hand gave a tough fight but fell short of 16 runs scoring 164/8 in 20 overs. CCI had almost everyone chipping in with starts but they lacked someone who could convert their start and anchor the chase. Arun Madhu and Abhishek Bhura with 2 wkts each were the pick of the lot. It was also noteworthy to mention efforts of Arun who grabbed those important catches and run out which changed the course of the match.
Result: MCA BKC won by 16 runs, Vijay Singh was adjudged “Player of the Match”
