Sohil Shah wins hearts with 1st ton of GSL, Rishin Mehta (97) & Nimish Vora (59) steer Triumph Knights to a win in Billmart GCH Cricket Super League’22

Jaguars of Triumph Knights opting to bat first in the 4th match of Western Railway Ground in Lower Parel posted a massive total of 190/5 in 20 overs. Opener Nimish Vora and Rishin Mehta stitched a record 129 run stand for the 2nd wicket turning things around for Jaguars of Triumph Knights. Nimish Vora played a solid innings scoring 59 off 44 balls smashing 7 boundaries and batting till the 17th over before retiring hurt. Rishin Mehta who came at no.4 missed out on a well deserved century getting dismissed on a brilliant 97 off 56 balls, an innings which included 12 boundaries and 3 sixes at a strike rate of 173.21.

Chasing 191, Cheetahs Mumbai Stars had a lone warrior in opener Sohil Shah who batted from start to end to register the 1st Century and Highest Individual score of Billmart GCH Super League, a record which will stay with Sohil for lifetime. Sohil scored a magnificent 135 off just 66 balls which included 19 boundaries and 3 sixes at a stunning strike rate of 204.55 as he let his bat do the talking. Commissioner of GSL, Mr. Ganesh Iyer had quoted before the match “A lot depends on Sohil, he is the main batter, if he bats till end, then Cheetahs win the match”

Maybe Mr.Ganesh Iyer’s prediction was spot on as Cheetahs lost the match by 7 runs as things turned around quickly in the penultimate over after the run out of Sohil in the 1st ball of the 20th over. An innings which unfortunately ended on a losing cause. From the bowlers, Dhaval Shah with 3/31 in 4 overs was the pick of the lot.
