To score hundreds in any format is a special feeling and to score a hundred in a T20 is the most difficult from all formats. It’s certainly a sign of a very good batter if one manages to achieve that feat. Himanshu Maggu in a recent match vs Crescent Warriors managed pull that off in the Sportsnext Summer Bash 2023 on 30th April, 23.
Crescent Warriors opting to bat first made a fine total of 176/7 in 20 overs with opener Mayur Gathani being the top scorer smashing 53 runs off 31 balls. Mayur smacked 7 boundaries and a six while Yusuf Patel (24 off 15) and Anand Singh (31* off 26) at the middle order provided handy cameos. From the bowlers, Rohit Bhatt and Gautam Bakshi bagged 2wkts a piece.
Chasing 177, Crescent Bay were off toa very decent start courtesy their opener Himanshu Maggu and Sharad Kurup (32 off 20 balls) putting on a fight. However, apart from these two, none of their batters managed to make an impact or play the supporting role with opener Himanshu who almost took the game away with his brilliant hundred. Himanshu batted from start to end scoring 104 of 67 balls which included 8 fours and 3 sixes at a strike rate of 155.22. However, Sunny dismissed Himanshu in the 4th last ball of the innings in the penultimate over which proved to be the game changer as Crescent Bay fell short of just 2 runs at the end of their 20 overs.
Result: Crescent Warriors won by 2 runs, Himanshu Maggu declared ‘Man of the Match”
