Bombay Vikings win on the back of Jitesh Purabiya’s blazing half century in Sportsnext T20 Season 1

Played at Vengsarkar Cricket Academy Ground in Mumbai, Bombay Vikings after opting to bat first posted a total of 196/5 in 20 overs. The openers gave a decent start putting on 29 runs in the first 4 overs but it was Jitesh Purabiya at no.4 who proved to be the game changer with his knock of 57 runs. Jitesh only took 26 balls to score his half century and also plonked 4 sixes alongwith 4 boundaries at a healthy strike rate of almost 220.00. Lower order batters Nimit and Dhrumal also provided handy cameos down the order to help their team reach a more than respectable total on the board.

Red Rhinos in reply managed to score 133/6 in 20 overs with Jasdeep Singh at the middle order scoring 55 off 49 balls before getting retired hurt in the 19th over. Red Rhinos looked nowhere in the chase as Bombay Vikings bowlers did a commendable job of not allowing them to score freely. Yatin Bhavasr, Himanshu Bhavsar and Nisarg Shah bagged a wicket each while Manish Tarkar with 0/17 in 4 overs also bowled an economical spell.

Result: Bombay Vikings won by 63 runs, Jitesh Purabiya declared ‘man of the match’
